discovery

one of the good things about changing my diet to vegetarian foods is the discovery of new recipes. now i wouldn't actually call it recipes. it really is a matter of looking the refrigerator, seeing what is there and experimenting as to what goes together. i think i have mastered the art of the surprise salad. even if i am the only one that likes it well, that's a success...at least to me.
after the long holiday weekend being out of town, the refrigerator was looking light. but then i saw the two items. the Mexican face meat and leftover barbecued corn on the cob. sauteed the ingredients in a little butter. added a little butter. voila...a very tasty meal. tasty, easy and i didn't have to leave the house to buy anymore ingredients. yes, another success.

i remember i like this part

although the being prepared all the time takes work...going to the supermarket, figuring out what to get, actually preparing something...the pay off is so worth it.
john and i have headed to donner for the weekend and so i took all the items i purchased during the week and made an "andrea salad" which means it has a little bit of everything in it and it is going to be really good. makes me so happy to know that after a drive to the mountains, i don't have to figure out what to eat and i don't have to go anywhere to get groceries...it is all ready to go.
what a great way to start the holiday weekend. ahhhhhhhhh!

it takes time

i forgot that it really takes about two weeks to get the momentum of this to become just a part of my daily routine. right now i am very much aware of what i can and can not eat. basically i see bread everywhere. my mind goes to all the things that i can't have but some how want to crave. seriously i just looked up from the computer to watch a silly pizza commercial. wow. that's funny. i am so ready for ten days from now.

no coffee

i knew waking up this monday morning that i was out of coffee. bummer. but the bright side of this...an hour later i am home with safeway with a refrigerator full of groceries - healthy food that i love - and i have a plate of eggs with sauteed fake meat, mushrooms, feta cheese and slices of avocado. and i cheated...got a cup of coffee at the market. so, the no coffee thing was a drag but now i am eating, blogging and drinking coffee. this week has taken a great turn. then at noon having a nice healthy in meal in my tummy i will be ready for an awesome yoga class and later...meeting a new organizing client.
ok no bread, rice, pasta, sugar...i am back on board. game on!

day one is done

well you think i would have learned from the first time i did this and this is...one must have a plan. did i have one? no. did it make things difficult? yes. today is saturday and i had an organizing client at 8 am. this meant i needed some good healthy food that would get me through. i ate a banana when i left the house but by the time i finished the job at 3...yes, i was ravenous. thank god for courtney's market down the street from my house and that my client paid me in cash as that is the only acceptable form of payment at courtneys. the market features pre-maid fruit salads, juices, nuts, etc. so it got me through but tomorrow...i am going to the supermarket to load up on supplies.

really? nothing since march 1st...

wow, i am shocked. i have not written a word since march 1st. and at that point i had three different sites to post my blog. my friend matt had told me i must have word press and then i thought i had to have another blog on my website. before i knew it i was typing the blog and then copying and pasting to two other sites. i really am an all or anothing gal. that was when i was an "all"...then on march 1st i became a "nothing"...i completely stopped writing. nuts. so i am going back to my roots of blogging and to this site only. of course since my last post here, blogspot has changed its format and i will have to figure it out. but i can handle it. the other thing that has happened is that gluten and sugar have snuck back into my diet. bummer. for the most part i have been pretty good but every once in a while i kind of rationalize in my mind that a) i don't have any other choice and b) i don't want to be difficult to the person i am eating with. lies i tell you. i just wanted to eat those foods. and now i have had enough! yoga is back into my routine practice so my diet needs to go back to a healthier version. so here we go...daily block and...NO bread, rice, pasta, sugar!

you have to make it part of your daily routine

i so don't feel like writing this post today. between yesterday and today i have had 12 hours of packing boxes/unpacking boxes, carrying boxes up and down stairs and hills, moving filled boxes, emptying boxes...basically yesterday i received two pallets of shipped items from florida and today i packed up a household and donated items to goodwill. so to say i am tired is putting it mildly.
but...the blog must go on.
i know that in my heart of hears, to make something a habit you must practice the task regularly. for me it is writing in my blog. and for my clients it is staying on top of organization. what is your challenge?
p.s. i am sorry but i just can't edit this one today. forgive me for errors, typos, etc.
